Ceylon tea since 2007

The same standard in every cup

Pekoe leaf selected in the high-altitude gardens of Sri Lanka, reaching tables across Türkiye with the same freshness.

Our Story

The journey of the leaf is our business

Morad Tea was founded in 2007 within Haliloğlu Group. The aim was clear from the start: to bring high-quality Sri Lankan tea straight from its source, in both consumer and wholesale packs.

Today we are focused on one thing: Pekoe Ceylon black tea. Every blend is judged on one measure — that it gives the same cup, every time.

Through a distribution network built on three regional offices across Türkiye, our products hold their place on the shelves of the Migros and Macrocenter chains.

What is Pekoe?

The freshest tip of the tea plant

Pekoe is the grade of fine black tea made from the fresh bud and first leaves at the very top of the tea plant, picked before they have finished growing.

  1. 1

    The bud

At the very tip of the shoot sits the unopened bud. Its fine, silvery down gives the grade its name: Pekoe comes from the Chinese pek-ho, “white down”.

  2. 2

    The first leaves

Just below, two young leaves are still growing. Thin and tender, they are the most aromatic part of the plant.

  3. 3

    The mature leaves

The larger, tougher leaves further down do not make the grade. Pekoe is Pekoe because it keeps to the fresh tips alone.

Every Morad Tea pack carries the result of that selectiveness: a clear colour, a smooth cup, the same taste in every pot.

Tea Gardens

Where the leaf comes from

Altitude, humidity and soil give Ceylon tea its character. Choosing the garden is choosing the taste.
